Tom Northrop, SPHR
Chief Executive Officer

As the Chief Executive Officer
of Human Capital Consulting & Publishing, LLC, Tom brings
more than 20 years of Human Resources experience to the company.
His clients have included DuPont, Merck, Coors, Cargill, Tenneco,
and the Virginia Department of Transportation.
In addition, as an adjunct professor, Tom has taught courses
in Cultural Geography & Human Resources at Mary Baldwin
College, James Madison University, The University of Virginia,
and he currently is the Vice President of Membership for WTPF,
which is a Business Forum for HR Professionals in the Greater
Washington, DC Metro Area.
Furthermore, Tom is a former Officer in the US Army and was a Magistrate
for the 25th Judicial District in the Commonwealth of Virginia. He
is also the past State Vice-Chairman of the Virginia Employer Advisory
Committee and the Vice President of the Waynesboro/Augusta County
Leaders for Tomorrow.
Tom holds certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources
(SPHR) from the Human Resource Certification Institute. Tom is an
avid mountain hiker, a voracious reader, and well-seasoned traveler.
Donna Ward, M.S.
Executive Vice President of Total Rewards

Donna is HCCP’s in-house
expert in Total Rewards, bringing over 25 years of experience
in delivering strategic Human Resources solutions for diverse
businesses. She brings proven experience in the design and
implementation of competitive Human Resources programs and
practices to attract, retain, and engage a talented workforce.
Donna’s career history includes leadership positions
in mid- and large-sized companies in both public and private
sectors, including ICF International, GTE, and Deloitte. She
successfully designed and implemented Total Rewards strategies,
competitive pay strategies, and scalable compensation infrastructures.
In addition, she has led the development and implementation of workforce
analysis and strategic Human Resources planning initiatives, including
developing strategies for successful joint ventures, divestitures,
and acquisitions.
Donna brings an extensive experience in bringing practical, “user-friendly”
solutions to complex Human Resources matters. Her solutions are recognized
for being easy to understand, cost effective, and clearly aligned
with business strategies. She has developed and implemented employee
engagement surveys, exit surveys, and internal client satisfaction
surveys to enable employers to stay in tune with their employees.
Donna received her Master of Science in Applied Economics from the
University of North Texas and her Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences
from the University of the State of New York.
Mary Key, Ph.D.
Executive Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness

Business consultant, speaker,
author and executive coach, Dr. Key has helped clients produce
“breakthrough” results since 1992 and will help
clients get from where they are now to where they want to
be with measurable results. She works with individuals, teams,
and organizations in areas such as leading change, leadership
and team development, succession planning, conflict resolution,
strategic planning, strategy development, and effective execution
– all leading to improving her clients’ productivity.
Dr. Key has worked with Fortune 500 companies, Inc. 500 winners
and various government agencies, including but not limited
to, Nokia, Nissan, Infiniti, Baycare
Health System, Bausch & Lomb, CitiFinancial Retail Services, Circuit
City, Georgia-Pacific, Prevent Blindness America, The American Rental
Association, Tampa Port Authority, the Province of British Columbia,
and various agencies in the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina,
Texas, and Virginia. She has also consulted in Europe, Asia, and Latin
America. Dr. Key also headed the Leadership and Strategy Practice
for the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) where she worked
with Fortune 500 clients as a trusted advisor and thought leader.
She directed relevant research on human capital and productivity issues
and served as a spokesperson and expert source to the media.
In addition, Dr. Key was the Executive Director of Inc. Magazine's
Eagles CEO Program, where she provided one-on-one consulting and roundtable
facilitation to CEOs of fast-growing companies and Inc. 500 winners.
She also served in leadership roles at several major international
consulting firms including Development Dimensions International and
Kaset (now a part of AchieveGlobal). Furthermore, she has authored
several books including CEO Road Rules: Right Focus, Right People,
Right Execution and The Entrepreneurial Cat: 13 Ways to Transform
Your Work Life.
Dr. Key received her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and her
BS from the University of Massachusetts. She was selected to join
Leadership Florida, the CEO Council of Tampa Bay, and was a finalist
for Executive Woman of the Year in Tampa Bay. She belongs to the National
Speakers Association, Searchnet, OD Network, Society for Organizational
Learning (SOL), ASTD, and the World Future Society.
Sudha Hillary
Vice President of Business Development for the Washington, DC Metro Region 
Sudha Hillary, a native Washingtonian, brings over 15 years of New Business, Business Development, and Account Management expertise for various industry leaders such as HYPERLINK "http://Monster.com" \t "_blank" Monster.com, The Washington Post, TMP Government, and TMP Worldwide. Sudha excels in developing and implementing best-in-class employee communication strategies and solutions for public and private sector clients. With a reputation for success and consistent record of exceeding sales goals and forecasts, Sudha has won several prestigious sales awards including Presidents Club, Vice Presidents Club (twice), Publishers Award for Sales Excellence, and several Employment Management Association - Best in Category awards.
Sudha received B.S. in Marketing from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. He was an active member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and the Marketing Club.
In his spare time, Sudha has been actively functioning as a longtime Board Member of the United Parish of Bowie, MD. A former President of the Britwell Homeowner Association, he is actively assisting the Board with several ongoing initiatives. He loves to travel to new destinations, play in several athletic leagues, start random eating clubs, and socialize with friends and family.
Debbie Smolen, SPHR
Vice President of Business Development 
Debbie is a seasoned Human Resources
professional with over 14 years of experience in the field.
She has been both a one-person department for smaller organizations
and as a strategic business partner for large, multi-national
corporations. She has experience in a number of industries,
including manufacturing, automotive, hospitality, consumer
products, and was the Assistant Vice President of First Southern
Bank in Boca Raton, Florida.
In addition, as a volunteer leader, Debbie has served in the
capacity of the Treasurer and the Secretary for the Human
Resource Association of Broward County, Florida.
Furthermore, she will chair the Master’s Series for the Raleigh-Wake
Human Resources Management Association of Raleigh, North Carolina
in 2010.
Debbie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources
Management from Palm Beach Atlantic University and is an active member
of SHRM, TSHRM, and RWHRMA.
Deadre N. Carroll
Practice Administrator

Deadre is a well-rounded, seasoned
professional with extensive training, knowledge, and background
in customer service, sales, and administrative management.
She has been utilizing her creativity, top-notch interpersonal
skills, and meticulous organizational skills to bring the
highest-possible level of satisfaction to her customers at
various, reputable companies such as Sleep Med, Inc., Long
& Foster Real Estate Company, L’Oreal USA, and Donna
Karan Company.
In addition, Deadre especially prides herself in her ability
to perform multiple tasks in a punctual manner in a fast-paced
environment, strong sense of work ownership, and her larger-than-life work and personal ethics.
Deadre has matriculated in Montgomery College, working toward her
Psychology Degree, and attended the International Education Exchange
Program in Hubei Province of China through University of Maryland,
College Park.
In her spare time, Deadre enjoys traveling, fashion coordinating,
listening to jazz music, playing tennis, gourmet cooking, and spending
time with her nephew and nieces.
